There are three types of honors that apply to all majors and degrees at Washburn University. They are Latin Honors, President’s Honor Roll, and Bonner Leaders.
Latin Honors
Any undergraduate, baccalaureate student who has met degree requirements by completing only Washburn course work and by achieving a cumulative grade point average of: 3.4-3.59 receives a degree cum laude, 3.6-3.79 receives a degree magna cum laude, 3.8-4.0 receives a degree summa cum laude. Additional rules apply for transfer students. See the University Catalogue for more information and details.
President’s Honor Roll
Students whose grade point average is 4.00 for the semester are honored by having their names placed upon the President’s Honor Roll and they are so notified by the President. The completion of a minimum of 12 Washburn semester hours taken for letter grades is required.
Bonner Leaders
This honor is open to any undergraduate or graduate student enrolled part-time or full-time who is in good academic standing. Bonner Scholar honors are awarded to students who have been accepted into the Bonner Leaders program and who have completed the required service commitment over a two year period.
Sibberson Award
Thanks to a generous gift to Washburn University by Erna and Gretchen Sibberson, an award has been established to honor the most deserving students selected from among the highest ranking members of the senior class in the undergraduate program at each commencement ceremony. Typically, these students hold a 4.00 grade point average and are involved in community service and campus activities.
